Tóm tắt lý thuyết câu điều kiện loại 1
Cấu trúc
Cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 1 luôn bao gồm hai mệnh đề: Mệnh đề điều kiện (Mệnh đề If) và Mệnh đề kết quả (Mệnh đề chính).
- Mệnh đề If (If + S + V-present simple): Đưa ra điều kiện
- Mệnh đề chính (S + will + V-inf): Kết quả tất yếu hoặc khả thi
Công thức: If + S + V (present simple), S + will + V
Ví dụ:
- If the weather is fine, we will go camping. (Nếu thời tiết tốt, chúng ta sẽ đi cắm trại.)
- If she studies hard, she will pass the exam. (Nếu cô ấy học hành chăm chỉ, cô ấy sẽ đỗ kỳ thi.)
Lưu ý:
- Nếu mệnh đề If đứng ở vế đầu, cần có dấu phẩy ngăn cách giữa 2 mệnh đề. Ngược lại, nếu mệnh đề chính đứng ở vế đầu, không cần dấu phẩy.
- Trong mệnh đề chính, ngoài will, bạn có thể sử dụng can, may, must, should để thể hiện mức độ chắc chắn, sự cho phép hoặc lời khuyên.
Cách dùng
Dùng để diễn tả một sự việc có thật hoặc một kết quả thể xảy ra trong hiện tại hoặc tương lai.
Ví dụ:
- If you don't wear a coat, you will catch a cold. (Nếu bạn không mặc áo khoác, bạn sẽ bị cảm lạnh.)
- If the sun shines, the snow will melt. (Nếu mặt trời chiếu sáng, tuyết sẽ tan.)
Dùng “may” hoặc “might” ở mệnh đề chính để diễn tả một kết quả có thể xảy ra nhưng không chắc chắn 100%.
Ví dụ:
- If you study late tonight, you might feel tired tomorrow morning. (Nếu tối nay bạn học muộn, sáng mai bạn có thể sẽ thấy mệt.)
- If we don't hurry, we may miss the bus. (Nếu chúng ta không khẩn trương, chúng ta có thể sẽ lỡ chuyến xe buýt.)
Sử dụng “be going to” nhằm nhấn mạnh một kế hoạch hoặc kết quả chắc chắn sẽ thực hiện nếu điều kiện xảy ra.
Ví dụ:
- We are going to buy a new laptop if the store has a big sale this weekend. (Chúng tôi dự định sẽ mua một chiếc máy tính xách tay mới nếu cửa hàng có đợt giảm giá lớn.)
- I am going to take a nap if I finish this work early. (Tôi sẽ đi chợp mắt một lát nếu tôi hoàn thành công việc này sớm.)
Sử dụng cấu trúc “Unless” (trừ khi) để thay thế cho “If… not” trong các câu mang ý nghĩa phủ định điều kiện.
Ví dụ:
- Unless he arrives before 8 PM, he will miss the beginning of the movie. (Trừ khi anh ấy đến trước 8 giờ tối, nếu không anh ấy sẽ lỡ bộ phim.)
- You will be late unless you start now. (Bạn sẽ bị muộn trừ khi bạn bắt đầu đi ngay bây giờ.)
Sử dụng thì hiện tại đơn ở cả hai mệnh đề để diễn tả một thói quen hoặc một hành động xảy ra ngay lập tức sau một hành động khác.
Ví dụ:
- If my brother gets his salary, he buys a new book for his collection. (Nếu anh trai tôi nhận lương, anh ấy liền mua một cuốn sách mới.)
- If I wake up early, I go for a jog. (Nếu tôi thức dậy sớm, tôi thường đi chạy bộ.)
Sử dụng “can” ở mệnh đề chính để thể hiện khả năng, sự cho phép hoặc một lời đồng ý.
Ví dụ:
- If you finish your report early, you can leave the office at 4 PM. (Nếu bạn xong báo cáo sớm, bạn có thể rời văn phòng lúc 4 giờ chiều.)

Sử dụng “should” hoặc “ought to” để đưa ra lời khuyên, gợi ý hoặc chỉ dẫn cho người nghe.
Ví dụ:
- If you want to improve your English, you should practice daily. (Nếu bạn muốn cải thiện tiếng Anh, bạn nên luyện tập hàng ngày.)
- If you feel unwell, you should see a doctor. (Nếu bạn cảm thấy không khỏe, bạn nên đi khám bác sĩ.)
Sử dụng câu mệnh lệnh (giản lược chủ ngữ) ở mệnh đề chính để yêu cầu hoặc đề nghị ai đó làm gì.
Ví dụ:
- If you find my keys, please call me immediately. (Nếu bạn tìm thấy chìa khóa của tôi, làm ơn hãy gọi cho tôi ngay lập tức.)
- Contact me if you have any questions. (Hãy liên hệ với tôi nếu bạn có bất kỳ câu hỏi nào.)
Đảo ngữ
Đảo ngữ là cách lược bỏ liên từ “If” và đưa trợ động từ lên đầu câu nhằm tăng tính trang trọng, lịch sự cho câu văn. Đối với câu điều kiện loại 1, ta sử dụng trợ động từ Should.
Cấu trúc: Should + S + (not) + V-inf, S + will/can/may/should… + V-inf
Lưu ý:
- Động từ sau chủ ngữ luôn ở dạng nguyên thể không “to” (V-inf) (không chia theo chủ ngữ).
- Cách dùng này thường xuất hiện trong các văn bản trang trọng hoặc thư tín giao dịch.
Ví dụ:
- If you need any further information, please contact our office.
→ Should you need any further information, please contact our office.
(Nếu bạn cần thêm bất kỳ thông tin nào, vui lòng liên hệ với văn phòng của chúng tôi.)
- If the delivery is not made on time, we will cancel the order.
→ Should the delivery not be made on time, we will cancel the order.
(Nếu việc giao hàng không được thực hiện đúng hạn, chúng tôi sẽ hủy đơn hàng.)
Các biến thể của câu điều kiện loại 1
Biến thể mệnh đề “If”
- If + S + am/is/are + V-ing, S + will + V-inf: Nhấn mạnh một sự việc đang trong quá trình xảy ra.
Ví dụ: If you are studying for the exam, I will not disturb you. (Nếu bạn đang học bài cho kỳ thi, tôi sẽ không làm phiền bạn đâu.)
- If + S + have/has + V3/ed, S + will + V-inf: Nhấn mạnh một sự việc vừa mới hoàn thành hoặc không chắc chắn về thời điểm kết thúc.
Ví dụ: If she has finished the report, I will submit it to the manager. (Nếu cô ấy đã hoàn thành xong bản báo cáo, tôi sẽ nộp nó cho quản lý.)
Biến thể mệnh đề chính
- If + S + V(s/es), S + will + be + V-ing/ will + have + V3/ed: Nhấn mạnh tính tiếp diễn hoặc thời điểm hoàn thành của sự việc trong tương lai.
Ví dụ: If we go to the beach tomorrow, we will be swimming in the ocean at this time. (Nếu ngày mai chúng ta đi biển, giờ này chúng ta đang bơi ngoài đại dương rồi.)
- If + S + V(s/es), (Don't) + V-inf: Dùng trong câu mệnh lệnh để yêu cầu hoặc cấm đoán.
Ví dụ: If you finish your dinner, eat your dessert. (Nếu con ăn xong bữa tối thì hãy ăn tráng miệng đi.)
- If + S + V(s/es), S + should/must/can/ought to + V-inf: Dùng để khuyên nhủ, đề nghị hoặc diễn tả sự bắt buộc.
Ví dụ: If you want to lose weight, you must exercise regularly. (Nếu bạn muốn giảm cân, bạn phải tập thể dục thường xuyên.)
Các dạng viết lại câu điều kiện loại 1
Dạng chia động từ
Bạn cần xác định vế đã cho để suy ra cấu trúc của vế còn lại theo công thức: If + S + V (hiện tại đơn), S + will/can/may + V (nguyên thể)
Ví dụ: If they study hard, they will pass the exam. (Nếu họ học chăm chỉ, họ sẽ đậu kỳ thi.)
Dạng nối hai câu đơn sử dụng “If”
Dạng này yêu cầu kết hợp hai tình huống riêng biệt thành một câu điều kiện. Nếu cả hai câu đều ở thì tương lai hoặc diễn tả một khả năng có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại/tương lai, chúng ta sử dụng điều kiện Loại 1.
Quy tắc vị trí:
- Nếu có Because (bởi vì): Đặt If vào vị trí của Because.
- Nếu có So / That’s why (vì thế): Đặt If ở vế ngược lại với các từ này.
Ví dụ: I will have enough money. I will buy a new laptop. → If I have enough money, I will buy a new laptop. (Nếu tôi có tiền, tôi sẽ mua máy tính xách tay mới.)
Dạng chuyển đổi giữa “If… not” và “Unless”
Unless có nghĩa là “trừ khi” hoặc “nếu không”. Công thức chuyển đổi: Unless = If… not
Để thực hiện cấu trúc này, bạn thay “Unless” vào vị trí của “If”, sau đó bỏ “not” ở vế đó. Vế còn lại giữ nguyên.
Ví dụ: If you do not hurry, you will miss the bus. (Nếu bạn không nhanh, bạn sẽ lỡ xe buýt.) → Unless you hurry, you will miss the bus. (Nếu không nhanh lên, bạn sẽ lỡ xe buýt.)
Dạng chuyển đổi từ mệnh lệnh cách có “Or/ Otherwise”
Cấu trúc này thường dùng để đưa ra một lời cảnh báo hoặc lời khuyên.
Cấu trúc: Mệnh lệnh + or / otherwise + S + will…
Ví dụ: Be careful or you will break the vase. (Hãy cẩn thận kẻo làm vỡ chiếc bình.) → If you are not careful, you will break the vase. (Nếu bạn không cẩn thận, bạn sẽ làm vỡ chiếc bình.)
Dạng chuyển đổi từ “Without” sang “If”
Without (nếu không có) có thể được dùng để bắt đầu một điều kiện giả định. Đối với loại 1, chúng ta thường sử dụng cấu trúc: If there is no… hoặc If you don't…
Ví dụ: Without a map, we will get lost in the city. (Không có bản đồ, chúng ta sẽ lạ trong thành phố mất.) → If we don't have a map, we will get lost in the city. (Nếu chúng ta không có bản đồ, chúng ta sẽ lạc trong thành phố mất.)
Các từ đồng nghĩa khác của “If”
Ngoài từ “If”, chúng ta có thể sử dụng các từ sau để thay thế với ý nghĩa tương đương:
- Provided (that) / Providing (that): Miễn là.
- As long as: Với điều kiện là / Miễn là.
- In case: Phòng khi / Trong trường hợp.
Ví dụ: You can borrow my car provided that you drive slowly. (Bạn có thể mượn xe của tôi với điều kiện là bạn lái xe chậm.) → If you drive slowly, you can borrow my car. (Nếu bạn lái xe chậm, bạn có thể mượn xe của tôi.)
